Hello all, I have been asked many times about how and where I get my inspiration, so I’d like to talk a little about that today. Everyone is inspired by something different in this big beautiful world of ours, but what might deeply move one person, has no affect on another. I think it is amazing to see how we humans are seeming limitless in our ability to be creative. I myself am always thinking of new things to try, and there have been times that it has very little to do with painting. Sometimes, I will see a photo of something that strikes some emotion deep inside of me. Other times it is from a dream or from a fond memory that I want to translate onto canvas. It might be a person that is special to me or someone I’ve imagined or it could be a whimsical furry friend or a wonderful magical place I can see in my minds eye. I love to paint things that strike my fancy. I am immensely inspired by nature and my surroundings. For anyone that has seen my work, that last statement is bona fide! My modus operandi is to try to invoke the same feeling I had, hence, the very reason for painting it. I seek out subjects or scenes for my next project and try to keep an open mind. (you never know what waits just around the corner) I am sure there are some of you out there that have had those times you wish you could express how a special moment made you feel. That is all that I try to do. I have to stay true to my heart and do what inspires me, something that makes me say to myself, I’VE GOT TO PAINT THAT!
